Environmental Affairs Ingestion Platform

Data Integration & Automation

Environmental Affairs Ingestion Platform

Need

Deliver a scalable data ingestion process for the Environmental Affairs team while providing operational visibility into records that could not be processed automatically.

Solution

Developed the exception management application supporting a larger ingestion platform, allowing users to identify, investigate, and resolve invoice processing issues through an interactive Tableau interface.

Challenge

Environmental invoices arrived in a wide variety of formats, requiring flexible validation logic and clear categorization of processing failures so users could quickly determine the appropriate resolution.

Result

Created an operational support tool that complemented the ingestion platform by improving transparency into processing exceptions and enabling faster resolution of data quality issues before downstream reporting.

Shift Based Driver Hours of Service Model

Analytics Engineering

Shift Based Driver Hours of Service Model

Need

Develop a reliable analytical model that accurately represented driver Hours of Service activity across operational shifts, supporting compliance reporting and transportation analytics.

Solution

Designed a shift-based data model that transformed raw telematics events into complete operational timelines, accounting for shift boundaries, time zones, duty status transitions, and daily reporting requirements.

Challenge

Driver activity rarely aligned with calendar days. Building an accurate model required resolving complex edge cases including overnight shifts, timezone differences, gaps in activity, and multiple reporting perspectives while maintaining consistent business logic.

Result

Delivered a robust analytical model that provided a reliable foundation for compliance reporting and operational analysis, transforming complex event data into trusted, shift-oriented metrics for downstream reporting.

Treasury Ingestion Application

Financial Data Engineering

Treasury Ingestion Application

Need

Modernize the monthly treasury reporting process by replacing repetitive manual data entry with a streamlined application that supported the Capital and Liquidity reporting workflow.

Solution

Designed and developed a Streamlit application that ingested standardized treasury workbooks, validated user inputs, and loaded approved financial data directly into Snowflake for downstream reporting.

Challenge

Although the workbook followed a standardized layout, the application required precise extraction logic, robust validation, and a user-friendly interface that balanced automation with the flexibility needed for manual financial adjustments.

Result

Delivered a self-service application that reduced manual processing, improved data consistency, and simplified the monthly reporting process while providing a scalable foundation for future enhancements.

Operational Snapshot Architecture

Data Architecture

Operational Snapshot Architecture

Need

Capture accurate point-in-time operational metrics for planning and logistics teams, preserving historical values that could not be reconstructed reliably from continuously changing source systems.

Solution

Designed a reusable snapshot architecture using scheduled Snowflake tasks and stored procedures to capture daily operational states, supporting multiple business processes including trailer management, planning, and landmark reporting.

Challenge

Operational data changed continuously throughout the day, requiring careful consideration of snapshot timing, scheduling, and data consistency to ensure each historical record accurately reflected the business state at the intended point in time.

Result

Delivered a scalable snapshot framework that enabled reliable historical reporting across multiple operational datasets and established a repeatable pattern for future point-in-time reporting requirements.

Enterprise Data Integration

Data Modeling & Integration

Enterprise Data Integration

Need

Integrate data from multiple legacy business systems into standardized analytical models that supported enterprise reporting while preserving consistent business definitions across functional areas.

Solution

Designed mapping logic and dimensional models to transform disparate operational data into unified reporting structures, partnering with business stakeholders to validate calculations, relationships, and reporting requirements.

Challenge

Legacy source systems frequently represented the same business concepts differently, requiring careful analysis of data lineage, transformation rules, and business processes to produce reliable, trusted reporting models.

Result

Delivered scalable analytical models that established a consistent foundation for enterprise reporting, reducing ambiguity across source systems and improving confidence in downstream analytics.

Snowflake Platform Migration

Cloud Data Engineering

Snowflake Platform Migration

Need

Migrate RCT's analytics environment from one Snowflake instance to another while maintaining data integrity, business continuity, and downstream reporting.

Solution

Led the migration of tables, models, and supporting analytics assets, validating objects and dependencies to ensure a seamless transition between Snowflake environments.

Challenge

The migration involved coordinating numerous interconnected data models, views, stored procedures, and reporting dependencies, requiring careful validation to ensure functional parity in the new environment.

Result

Successfully transitioned the analytics environment with minimal disruption, providing a stable foundation for continued development and reporting on the new Snowflake platform.
